Justin Parish is a lifelong resident of our town. He went to Auke Bay Elementary, Dzantik’i Heeni Middle School, and graduated from JDHS is 2001. He studied at UAF and UAS, earning a degree from each institution. While at UAS he wrote for the newspaper and advocated for the University as part of the Student Government. He works with special needs students at the Floyd Dryden Middle School.
Justin’s political involvement went into high gear with the beginning of the last school year. The free breakfast program was at risk of being discontinued. He stepped up, offering his time and energy to keep it running. He reached out to private and public institutions to secure funding and resources. He was amazed by how much of a difference one person could make in the lives of many. This inspired him to run for office.
In Juneau, Justin’s family includes his father David and step-mother Snova, his brother Zeif, his sister Noora and her husband Roel Mangacatt as well as their two daughters.
Today Justin is running as a Democrat for Alaska State House District 34, which includes the Mendenhall Valley, Auke Bay and out the road.
